One our history

The metal-working factory Helmut Gutberlett GmbH was founded by Helmut Gutberlett in Wuppertal-Barmen on 1 June 1950. After his retirement in 1977 Mr Klaus Ley took over the company and developed it further. His sons, Messrs. Frank and Dirk Ley, are the third generation running the company as entrepreneurs.

At the beginning the major part of production comprised all possible variations of zips, which was reflected in the company’s logo in the form of an anchor.

In the course of time more and more items from the areas of stamping and tool construction were added to the range of products to make high-quality products. This is the origin of the Gutberlett know-how.
With wire erosion being introduced in 1989 the company met growing demands in tool construction and quality management and has continuously expanded in this area since then.

A new chapter was opened when the company moved to Radevormwald in 1991: the new building offered space for modernisation and expansion.
